ORACLE AGILE EDM INTEGRATION
A lot of information and documents are distributed and sent by email during the development process. These emails with their attachments are part of the product documentation. Although most companies have PLM-systems to support the development process and the product documentation the aforementioned-emails are disregarded.
To remedy these shortcomings XPLM presents integration for Microsoft Outlook using the XPLM Integration Platform. The Microsoft Outlook Integration is operated from within your MS Office application.
Saving into Oracle Agile EDM (using the Save command) creates a document object in Oracle Agile EDM. This object holds the native office file, a PDF representation of the attachments and metadata for the MS-Office email document. It makes the office document available to the rest of the organization, as privileges permit.
The MS Outlook Integration supports the transfer of properties associated with the Outlook object between Microsoft Outlook and Oracle Agile EDM.
Once checked-in in Oracle Agile EDM, the email can be assigned to other objects like parts, Bill of Materials, projects, documents etc.
Emails of the Microsoft Outlook session will be saved in a central file vault controlled by Oracle Agile EDM. Message files in Oracle Agile EDM can be loaded into your current Microsoft Outlook session. The XPLM integration for Oracle Agile EDM and Microsoft Outlook enables you to use central and protected file storage. In Oracle Agile EDM you will also be able to fill out administrative forms for documents in order to add metadata to them.
