PLM integration provides scope for innovative thinking
Every new project needs a structure to ensure transparent drawing, change and version management. In the case of an MCAD/PLM integration, the direct integration creates this project environment in its entirety, including all templates. The directories and files are automatically named or renamed if an existing file or directory is copied for use in a new project. Even complex MCAD structures can be linked logically to all the associated data and information within this architecture, thus ensuring that interrelationships can be traced at any time.
All project data can be accessed and saved in a controlled manner, checked out and checked back in again from the MCAD environment, even during concurrent engineering. Sophisticated functions help your design engineers quickly locate information in projects or in the component database. If for example a discontinued component has to be replaced by its successor, the "where-used" function and the ability to adapt mass data in a single step are both very useful.
The drawing management capability is also a real time-saver. It not only organizes design templates for knowledge-based engineering but also minimizes the amount of time and effort needed to maintain all the metadata across all versions. Information such as date, status, change history, original author, linked design templates and documents like test reports are automatically entered in the title block. Even information about materials can be transferred from the corresponding PDF to the title block. There is no longer any need to search for or enter information manually.
BOMs are automatically extracted in line with the stored logic without any effort on your part. The MCAD/PLM integration creates the variants you need, such as the engineering BOM, including auxiliary and phantom parts, and BOMs for costing, procurement, manufacturing or quality assurance. Different versions can be compared with a single click.
Design processes are made clear, lean and secure
In addition to the bidirectional exchange of CAD objects, BOMs, components and information about status, classes and articles with colleagues from other departments, business partners and customers, our direct integration also supports automated processes. This means that an event like saving a new version can trigger workflows such as the release process, which provides the team involved with all relevant information, or the batch-controlled generation of neutral formats and exchange formats. Conversion runs like this can be performed outside of normal working hour to avoid taking up a CAD license.
