DigiTain (Digitalization for Sustainability): The funding project for the collaborative development of processes, methods and models for the fully digital development and certification of sustainable electric drives is increasingly being implemented. Not even every second industrial company has a professional data strategy. The reason: there is a lack of know-how and personnel capacities. Yet the strategic handling of data has long been the basis for its economic success. This is confirmed by the results of a survey conducted by the technology company XPLM among 126 decision-makers from industry.

The DigiTain (Digitalisation for Sustainability) research project, funded by the federal government & the EU, is in full swing. It's all about a new product development process for car manufacturers for the fully digital product development of sustainable electric drive architectures. With our expertise, we are contributing to the conception of a model for the management of simulation processes & data as well as to its implementation with our solutions. The first project meeting has take place.

Society and politics are demanding more environmentally friendly vehicles. They want recyclable products with significantly reduced resources & minimised CO2 footprint. To achieve this, carmakers must completely redefine their product development process. And this is exactly what is happening in the DigiTain funding project. As a project partner, XPLM can fully exploit its expertise in the transparent & consistent management of all engineering data & implement it with its integration solutions.

In six out of ten companies, innovation teams circumvent data handling policies to share product information. These workarounds can jeopardize innovation projects. This is the conclusion of our Fall Study 2023 "Industry Study 2023, Data as a Success Factor". Employees take these workarounds because product information is distributed across different systems, organizations and locations. This doesn't have to be the case, because intelligent data federation solutions have long since allowed direct, rights-controlled access to data in any system - from the task context and the company's own system environment.

The aim of the DigiTain project, Digitization for Sustainability, is the 100 % digitized development of sustainable electric drive architectures. Together, the total of 28 partners from industry and science are researching the most efficient, comprehensible methods, models and processes possible for interdisciplinary engineering. In line with our expertise, XPLM takes over data management and the control of information flows in the product development process.

Development teams, production, procurement and shipping - many teams need product data. Each needs different data, and as timely and digital as possible, so that they can incorporate it directly into their own processes. When technical data is conveniently available, teams work more productively. XSPHERE makes it easy to query data in other systems, according to access rights, from within your own system environment and without having to adapt systems or data models. The basis is web services, and you can find out what they enable here.

Further internationalization: XPLM opens location in Japan. The decisive factor was the increasing global demand for solutions for consistently available product data and digitized processes throughout the company. As the second largest single market for PLM systems, Japan was the next logical step.

Industrial companies are taking advantage of the potential offered by PLM (Product Lifecycle Management)-supported engineering processes. By means of mechatronic product development and product data provided to their entire supply chain, they realize the product variety expected by the market. At the same time, they manage to shorten the innovation cycles and to reduce costs. Especially in recent years, XPLM has therefore seen an exponential increase in demand for its intelligent CAD connectors for electrical and electronic engineering.

XPLM Solution GmbH will be even more financially stable and thus more flexible in the future. Thanks to the investment by ARAS Corporation, XPLM, as an independent provider of system integration solutions, will be able to further develop and expand its globally unique portfolio even faster. The XPLM management emphasizes that XPLM will continue to act as an independent, autonomous company in order to protect the intellectual property of customers and partners and not to jeopardize the trusting relationships built up with them over the years.
