The project is supervised by the DLR project management. In general, twelve companies as well as scientists from the fields associated with mechanical and process engineering of the Technical University Kaiserslautern are working together. The purpose of the project is to develop appropriate business models, intelligent components capable of communicating as well as the data integration, taking account of data security. In this way the project is addressing the needs of the producers of capital goods for high availability, less standstills and optimal output of their machines and equipment.
The consortium manager, Mr. Dr. Mogo Nem from Schaeffler Technologies AG&Co. KG, explains, that “such business models are representing an attractive Unique Selling Proposition and offering success and business potentials for the companies” and according to the scientific coordinator, Prof. Jan Aurich from the TU Kaiserslautern, “the latest insights from research and development in the field of sensor technology, collecting and analyzing large amounts of data allows today service approaches, which would have been unthinkable only a few years ago”.
The research and development project has a total term of 3 years and is supported by funds of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) under the project number 01FJ15016.
