Customer Challenges

  • Implementation of a hierarchical manufacturing BOM, since a variety of different data models have to be organized
  • So far there is no direct integration between Altium Designer and SAP PLM
  • The data exchange had to be performed in a manual way and was thus highly user-unfriendly
  • The BOM of the electronic assemblies were maintained in Excel and imported into SAP PLM

Customer Requirements

  • Wilo needs an integration solution between Altium Designer and SAP PLM tailored to their needs
  • In order to meet the special requirements in the internal product development and manufacturing process, several individual BOM have to be created for each assembly
  • Then these will have to be managed and forwarded in a flexible hierarchical structure

Customer Benefits

  • By automating tasks instead of manual processing, the integration enabled Wilo to achieve higher quality results faster and more efficiently collaboration across sites
  • The management of all related electronic product data and the automated creation of a tailored data model and BOM structures are on high impact for business processes
  • With the worldwide roll-out of the integration, users outside the ECAD world can now access design information
